High Performance Flexible Metal Hoses

FMH Aerospace’s Flexible Metal Hose Assemblies are all-metallic, corrugated hose products engineered for extreme aerospace environments. These build-to-print and custom-designed hoses are designed to withstand high pressures, extreme temperatures, and intense vibration without failure,

Each flexible metal hose assembly is constructed from a thin-walled formed bellows core with one or more
layers of braided metal wire reinforcement, plus precision-machined end fittings. This robust construction gives the hose exceptional tolerance to high-pressure and high-vibration conditions. The all-metal design also provides inherent fire resistance, ensuring safe performance even in high-heat or flame environments (no organic liners are used). FMH hoses operate effectively from deep vacuum to high pressure and from cryogenic to high-temperature regimes, covering a broad performance envelope.

Testing and Quality

FMH ensures the quality and reliability of its products through a rigorous, multi‑layered testing and inspection process designed to meet demanding aerospace requirements. Each flight hose assembly is pressure tested well above its maximum operating pressure to verify structural integrity and safety margins, with critical units pushed to burst during qualification. To guarantee leak‑tight performance, FMH performs in‑house helium mass‑spectrometer leak testing, capable of detecting microscopic leaks at extremely low acceptable rates.

Critical components are further validated using non‑destructive examination methods such as X‑ray and dye penetrant inspection to uncover hidden weld defects or surface cracks before final assembly. Finished hose assemblies are then subjected to vibration and flex testing that simulates launch, mission motion, and long‑term fatigue, ensuring they maintain integrity, do not loosen or chafe, and remain leak‑free throughout their service life.
